When you are planning a trip to Hawaii, there are 1 million pieces of advice to consider. What hotel to book? Would I like to rent a car? How much baggage do I need? Our growing community of fans Facebook kindly offered this advice to travellers that they learned on a trip to Hawaii.
People take far too much! Wear a bag small enough to use as a carry-on bag. You save $25 per person each way, and you know that it will happen with you. I also take clothes lay. Things you know that you are going to throw, wear once or twice, and then throw them at your destination, leaving room for souvenirs. -Mary P.

You do not need to make a hat - you can buy one for $3.99 at an ABC store (there is one on almost every corner of Waikiki) and do not make many shirts - you can buy six for $20 on the International market. -Alan B.
Pack light, pack smart (temple honours /Flickr photo)I also travel light. Purchase a gift card to a place such as Wal-Mart for products of first necessity (articles of toiletries, extra film, camera batteries, etc.) once I arrived at my destination. I pack only a brush toothbrush and toothpaste travel deodorant in case I come away blocked more then expected somewhere. -Kelly H.

We find our best suite of resort to vrbo.com, and then have that extracted with tripadvisor.com, just to make sure it's a good place with good real holiday reviews. Each trip that this works best for us! -Rick J.
Get a "real" look in the stations (large & small). Reviews are impartial and give you info on what the rooms are front sea view on the ocean, overlooking the garden, etc. Search online for your resort centre (Google Maps is a good option) and see just how close to the ocean, that they really are. -Diana G.

Do your research! Look at what he y to it and decide what you want then go for agreements with the entire region. As coupons and others. Pay as far forward as you can and then go and have a good time! -Tracy B.
You may rent a car if you go to Waikiki. TheBus (this is what they call) is $ 2.50 and for that price you can go virtually anywhere on the island of Oahu. If you stay at the hotel Ohana, you can get a free shuttle from the Ala Moana Shopping Center, the largest in Hawaii. -Alan B.
What people don't realize, is that it costs to park your rental car all evening (on the street and even at your hotel). There is no free parking in Honolulu. Bus passes across the island and costs only $2.50 and you can literally go all around the island, do not rent a car, that it will allow you to save big on your holiday. -Brenda and Brian Y.
I take the time to search for cheaper transportation (plane, bus, train, boat, tickets etc.) to my destination. I same different airlines to book and have long layovers if it saves money. -Kelly H.

My trick is to make friends with the people... they know the greatest place shop - eat - see, some hidden just so.... so loved every minute we were there

I make a list of everything that I would like to do and see on the journey, so I can refer to it, but I try not to get fact ca or cram too much in every day. What I do not on the list that I figure just gives me the perfect reason to plan another trip to return. -Kelly H.
