Hawaii has the highest mountains

When we think of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest comes to mind. 29 035 Feet, Everest continues to be the place par excellence for climbers, hoping to conquer the vast peaks. But Everest ain't got nothing on Mauna Kea, which some claim is in fact the highest mountain in the world.

Mauna Kea

Is Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain in the world?

Of course, you need a diving pleasure really to height of the volcano of this large island. The basis of it extends several kilometers below the surface of the ocean; where, it measures a whopping 33 000 feet in height; about 4 000 feet taller than Mount Everest. It is difficult to say of the Earth, but in addition to the elevation of Mauna Kea of 13 796 feet above sea level, there are another 17 000 feet under water.

Same Haleakala on Maui would be technically higher than Mount Everest, if you take into consideration the 19 680 feet of the volcano below the surface of the ocean. When added to the feet 10 023 volcano above sea level, you more than 675 feet height as Everest.

Haleakala

Technically, Haleakala is also higher than Mount Everest.

Don't worry, however. You do need any gear climbing hardened to reach the summits of Mauna Kea and Haleakala or will you be risking your life in doing so. This is actually quite a panoramic road to top that can be appreciated from in an air-conditioned vehicle. Two volcanoes are national parks that provide assistance to visitors in the hope of making the most of their experience. Stop by the visitor for more information Centre or take a guided tour to the top. It is best to visit the Mauna Kea during the winter months when it is covered with snow (Yes, the snow in Hawaii ' I!). Haleakala has, hands down, the best view of the Hawaiian Sunrise!
