Honolulu celebrates 50 years with the sister of Taiwan city

It is difficult to miss the two Chinese lions marble guarding the entrance of Chinatown in Honolulu, which proved to be an important link to one of the sister of Honolulu cities. The lions are a gift from the city of Kaohsiung in Taiwan to commemorate the arrival of Chinese settlers in Hawaii ' I, more than two centuries ago.

Honolulu celebrates half a century as a sister of Kaohsiung city.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the sister of Kaohsiung-Honolulu City relationship and to celebrate, Honolulu will host a free Concert of Aloha tonight. The line up of shows include cellist Bei Lin, pianist Eric Wu, Ka - GI choir and the dance group Tai - Zi. Bei Lin is Professor of cello and chamber music at the University of Hawaii. The Group of Tai - Zi is time for Taiwan; the combination of modern music with religious ritual, their debut of dance in Hawaii ' I had been performed at the World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung.

Kaohsiung is one of the two dozen cities that can call Honolulu their sister; others include towns in South Korea, France, Japan, Philippines, Portugal, Kenya and the Viet Nam. In fact, Kaohsiung is the sister of the fourth city of Honolulu. These connections promote cultural understanding between Nations through the spirit of friendship and, without speaking, cultural festivals and celebrations.

Last year, Kaohsiung has hosted a container International Arts Festival, sponsorship of artists from four of his brothers of cities. This includes artists from Honolulu. In the 1960s, Kaohsiung has organized a "day of Honolulu" to celebrate his eternal friendship with the Capitol of the State of Hawaii. Now it is our turn to revel in the Spirit of Aloha in this forthcoming celebration, reaffirming the link between two cities flourishing in the Pacific.
